Paper reimagined.

Poetic objects for everyday living.

Gaita Lab is a contemporary craft studio based in Turin, Italy.
Here everyday objects are reimagined through paper and carefully selected materials, becoming poetic and functional pieces designed to bring beauty into daily life.

Each object is designed by Laura Giraldo and produced in small batches where craftsmanship, experimentation and thoughtful design meet.

The Essence of Gaita Lab

Gaita Lab explores the creative potential of paper and other materials through contemporary design and craftsmanship.

Many pieces are made in washable paper, a surprising material that combines lightness, durability and texture. Together with other natural or sustainable materials selected for their beauty and versatility.

The collections range from home objects and accessories to experimental pieces that blur the line between design, craft and everyday life.

Design philosophy

Gaita Lab was born from a simple idea: the objects that surround us every day influence how we feel and how we live.

Through design and craftsmanship, the aim is to create objects that are both beautiful and useful. Pieces that accompany everyday rituals and add a quiet sense of poetry to ordinary moments.

Carefully selected materials, thoughtful design and small-scale production are part of this approach, where creativity and respect for materials guide every creation.

Gaita Lab is an evolving space where objects, ideas and collaborations grow together.

Projects and collaborations

Beyond designing and producing objects, Gaita Lab is also an evolving space for ideas, collaborations and creative projects.

Some initiatives explore the stories and craftsmanship behind handmade objects, while others focus on collaborations with artisans, designers and creative communities.

New ideas and projects are always taking shape.

Meet the designer

I’m Laura — the designer and maker behind Gaita Lab.

By profession I am an industrial and management engineer, but my passion has always been creativity, craftsmanship and the beauty of making things with care.

I was born in Bogotá, Colombia, a place rich in colours, nature and craft traditions.
Many of my earliest memories are connected to handmade worlds: wandering through artisan markets, discovering traditional crafts and spending time surrounded by paper and printing machines in my family’s typography workshop.

In 2010 I moved to Italy to continue my studies, and after several years working in a multinational company I decided to follow a more creative path and give life to Gaita Lab.

Today my heart belongs to two cultures and two homes.

Through Gaita Lab I continue exploring materials, stories and objects that bring beauty and meaning to everyday life.

Con Cariño,

Why “Gaita”?

The name comes from the Gaita or Kuisi, a traditional indigenous wind instrument from the Colombian Caribbean, handcrafted from cactus and deeply connected to the rhythm of Cumbia.

The name is a small tribute to my roots and to the idea that creativity, like music, can connect cultures, stories and people.

Thank you for being part of the journey.
